Mit Rückenwind nach Norden / With tailwind north (8. Tag / Day 8)

Heute ging es wieder weiter auf meiner Runde um Island, ein gutes Stück nordwärts. Das wäre eigentlich einfach gewesen, aber ich habe noch einen Umweg gemacht. Außerdem hab ich mich mal mit der Zero und dem Gepäck gewogen, das ist dann in der Bildunterschrift erklärt. Aber zunächst mal zum ersten Ladestopp: Den hatte ich in Akranes geplant, weil ich da auch noch Freunde besuchen wollte. Allerdings waren die nun selber in Island unterwegs, den Ladestopp habe ich aber trotzdem gemacht, weil vor dem nächsten Ladestopp eine Strecke von 149 km zu bewältigen war. In Akranes gibt es zwar eine Ladesäule von ON, aber dummerweise nur mit DC Gleichstromladeanschlüssen. Ich brauche aber AC Wechselstrom mit Typ 2 Stecker. Das wusste ich vorher schon und so bin ich im Gewerbegebiet herum gefahren, um irgendwo nach einer Lademöglichkeit zu fragen. Eine Oli’s Tankstelle, einen N1 Tankstelle (da durfte ich es versuchen, aber die Sicherung vertrug die 3 kW an der Haushaltssteckdose doch nicht) und bei einer TÜV-Staion (oder wie das hier heißt). Dort sah ich zwar eine begehrte rote Steckdose, aber die Dame am Tresen wusste nicht, ob sie mir das Laden erlauben durfte. Nach etwa einer 3/4 Stunde Zeitverlust kam dann endlich die Rettung in Form einer kleinen Autowerkstatt. Sehr nette Leute, es gab sogar Kaffee und Kuchen für mich. Im Zeitplan war ich Dank eines frühen Starts in Reykjavík trotzdem.

Nun konnte ich also die 149 km Strecke angehen. Es ging zu den Lavawasserfällen Hraunfossar. In meiner Reiseplanung hatte ich geschrieben, dass ich keine Probleme mit dem Wind erwarte, aber da es Seitenwind war, war er eigentlich für den Hin- und Rückweg schlecht. Außerdem war es mit 11 Grad recht frisch. Ich war also mit sparsamen 60 – 65 km/h unterwegs, als ich von der Ringstraße auf die [50] abgebogen war. In Borganes habe ich dann eine ON-Ladesäule genutzt. Die 10 EUR waren es mir nun wert, keinen Warte/Fragezeit zu vergeuden.
In Stykkisholmur gab es dann wieder eine der beliebten Orkusalan violetten Ladeboxen. Diese war geschickterweise auf dem Parkplatz beim Schwimmbad angebracht. Nachdem ich in meiner urigen Unterkunft („Homestay“!) netterweise sogar kochen konnte, ging ich noch von 20:36 bis 21:37 Uhr ins Bad und habe das Motorrad in 1:01 h aufgeladen. Diesmal muss ich also nicht über Nacht laden.

Morgen geht es dann um 9 Uhr mit der Fähre Baldur in Richtung Nordwestfjorde. Die Tagesetappe kann ich dann erst um 12 oder 13 Uhr starten, wenn die Fähre angekommen ist. Dazu habe ich in der Reiseplanung ja schon was geschrieben. Die Wetteraussichten sind in den letzten Tagen immer besser geworden. Es wird kaum Regen geben, aber auch Sonne ist dabei. 85 km der Strecke sind nicht geteert, aber ich will das angehen, denn am nordwestlichsten Punkt meiner Strecke wartet der Dynjandi-Wasserfall auf mich. Außerdem werde ich die Marke „2000 km in Island“ überschreiten.

Nachtrag zu gestern: Aufgenommen abends an der Perlan in Reykjavík. So ein Bild gibt’s auch mit meinem gelben Ford Mustang aus der Reise 2010.

Das war recht kühl heute, kann die nächsten Tage aber noch kälter werden.

Vor dem Tunnel unter den Hvalfördur gibt es einen Parkplatz mit einer fest installierten Waage für Autos. Da fahr ich immer gerne drauf und her konnte ich mal das Motorrad mit mir uns Reisegepäck wiegen. Heute war hier viel los, denn die Polizei war mit mehreren Fahrzeugen vor Ort, um LKW Bremsen zu testen. Sie wunderten sich etwas über meine Wiegeaktion, aber so kam ich ins Gespräch und konnte auch den „Lögreglan“ (wörtlich: Gesetzregler) meine Infoflyer geben.

Nachdem die Wandsteckdose in allen meiner Kabelmöglichkeiten die Sicherung auslöste, funktionierte es dann mit dieser hier.

Die nächste Lademöglichkeit hier in Borganes kam schon kurz darauf, aber ich bin erst noch einen Umweg gefahren.

Am Ende des Umwegs waren die schönen Wasserfälle Hraunfossar. Hier kommt das Wasser scheinbar direkt aus dem Lavafeld.

Das war wieder knapp. Die Anzeige ist diesmal aber nicht direkt auf 0 % gesprungen, wie letztens in Arnes.

Today I continued my journey around Iceland, a good way north. That would have actually been easy, but I made another detour. In addition, I weighed myself once with the Zero and the luggage, what I explain in the captions (see pictures). But first of all to the first charge stop: I had planned that in Akranes, because I wanted to visit friends there as well. However, they were now on their own tour in Iceland. But anyway I made the charging stop, because before the next stop a distance of 149 km had to be done. In Akranes there is a charging station of ON, but unfortunately only with DC charging ports. But I need AC with a type 2 plug. I knew that before and so I drove around in the industrial area to ask for a plug somewhere. An Oli’s gas station, a N1 gas station (there I was allowed to try it, but the fuse did not tolerate the 3 kW at the standard socket) and a station for checking cars. There I did see the desired red outlet, but the lady at the counter did not know if she could allow me to charge. After about a 3/4 hour loss of time I finally found a rescue in form of a small car repair shop. Very nice people, even coffee and cake for me. Thanks to an early start in Reykjavík, I was still on schedule.

So now I could start the 149 km route. It drove to the lava waterfalls Hraunfossar. In my itinerary I had written that I did not expect any problems with the wind, but since it was crosswind, it was actually bad for the way there and back. In addition, it was quite fresh with 11 degrees. So I was travelling at an economical 60-65 km/h when I left the ring road to the [50]. In Borganes I then used an ON charging station. The 10 EUR was it worth to me, no waiting/enquiring time to waste.
In Stykkisholmur there was again one of the nice purple Orkusalan charging boxes. This was cleverly positioned at the parking lot near the swimming pool. After I even was able to cook in my rustic accommodation („Homestay“!), I went to the „Sundlaug“ from 20:36 to 21:37 and had the bike charged in 1:01 h. This time I did not have to charge overnight.

Tomorrow I will leave at 9 o’clock with the ferry Baldur in direction Westfjords. The day’s stage I can then start at 12 or 13 clock, when the ferry arrived. I already wrote something in „Planning the trip“ about that. The weather outlook has gotten better in the last few days. There will be nearly no rain, but there is also sun. 85 km of the track are not paved, but I want to do that, because at the northwestern point of my route the Dynjandi waterfall is waiting for me. In addition, I will exceed the mark „2000 km in Iceland“.

It was pretty cool today, but the next few days can get even colder.

In front of the tunnel under the Hvalfördur there is a parking lot with a fixed scale for cars. Since I always like to drive on it, I now could weigh the bike with me and the luggage. There was a lot going on here today as the police were on site with several vehicles to test truck brakes. They were surprised about my action, so could talk with them and also give my info flyer to the „Lögreglan“ (literally: law regulators)

The next charging option here in Borganes came shortly thereafter, but I have just driven a detour.

At the end of the detour were the beautiful waterfalls Hraunfossar. Here the water seems to come directly from the lava field.

That was tight again. The display did not jump directly to 0% this time, like in Arnes recently.
